Finally moved in

It has been a long journey, we finally got our keys in the middle of March. A few weeks of driveway concrete pouring, timber floor installation and carpet installation we started to move in. We had to complete our landscape before we could get our final occupational certificate and finally officially moved in on the 14th April 2011.

There is still a few minor things to do like tiling the alfresco area and also light fittings.

Love our plantation shutters and timber floors. It was so much cheaper to get the flooring done with our own companies instead of going with the builders

Tilers are starting next week on the back alfresco.

An update...it is getting closer now

Drove by today to check on the igloo, the last of the scaffold was removed today. The plaster guy was back sanding the kitchen ceiling and patching some holes.
The top floor has been sanded and the tilers was backing putting some tiles on the laundry area.
I notice a leak at the bottom toilet, site supervisor is sending the plumbers to have a look.

Bathroom accessories & Skirtings and internal door handles

All the bathroom accessories are installed on the weekend. All internal door handles was installed today. Also all skirtings was fixed today as well since some of them was damaged due to the mini flood because someone left a window open and it rained !!

Electrical all done

Internal electrical is all done.....power points, light switches and light batten is all installed today.
Kitchen ceiling needs to be fixed and repainted.

Aircon Vents, Bathrooms Plumbing, Balcony Railings

There is plenty of activity today at the Igloo. Aircon vents are installed and the balcony rails are also installed. The plumbers are installing the internal taps/loo/bathtube/vanity and also the external down pipes. There was also a little internal flood because a window was left open, not happy about that !!!

Bench Top Joints

There are no activity at the Igloo for a few days now...waiting for carpenters to get back from holidays.
We are having the "Butt ? " joint on our kitchen bench top not the Miter joint as shown at the display home. Below are pics of the miter joint which you can see holes start to form at the joints.

Man Hole (Service Hole)

Alot of people put the man hole in the walk in robe? So every time a tradie goes to the roof cavity to fix something your cloths will be all dirty...etc. So we moved ours into the bathroom....plenty of room to put a ladder.

1st Dec 2010 > A busy 2-3 weeks...waterproofing was done in the wet areas. The stairs was installed. Kitchen cupboards and benchtop was installed and currently they are installing all doors and door frames. Tiling should start next week...as the cement and sand has been delivered today.

We upgraded the kitchen sink so it is big enough to wash big pots and woks. Love our bench top

Don't really like the basin..but can live with it.

Igloo Insulation

9th Nov 2010 - I went over to the Igloo on Sunday afternoon to take photographs of every single wall, ceiling....etc so we will have a records of where everything is behind the walls once everything is covered up. The insulation guys come today installing all the wall and ceiling insulation batts.

3rd November 2010 - the cabling guy is on site today installing all the cables for AV, TV, Network and Alarm system and also the antenna. I will be taking some pictures of all the walls once he is all done.

I notice the carpenters has leveled all the walls in the house, via halve cutting the frame and adding extra timbers. I notice one of the steel beams are not aligned :-( it has bricks around it and it is bolted to another steel beam...so I dont think we can fix it. Will have a chat to site boss.

November 2nd 2010. It as been a busy few days. The Carpenters was in today fixing up all the internal woodwork and door frames. The also finish the fascia at the bottom front of house. I just drove by and had a look inside the house and notice ALL the electrical wiring was done....not sure when they did that.
We also had a frame inspection today...organised by the builders.

Thursday 28th Oct 2010 - the roof tilers are back working on the lower front, back and side roof. The did not turn up today to finish the job :-(

Roof scaffolds down and bricks cleaned

19th Oct 2010 - A different team came onsite today to remove roof scaffolds and put back the roof tiles where the scaffold was mounted. Also the brick cleaner was in again cleaning the bottom level and also the inside bricks of the garage.

15th Oct 2010 - The scaffolders are in this morning removing all the scaffolds to ground level so the roof guys can install the alfresco roof. The top roof capping (13th Oct) was all complete and the eaves plus the top downpipes was also painted (14th Oct).

Monday 11th Oct 2010 > Top roof is complete just waiting for them too cement down the roof cappings. Hopefully they will start on the lower back roof soon. The carpenters was in today installing the top Roof eaves...all done in one day

Timber Flooring

Finally we had some time on the long weekend to look at some timber flooring...still undecided, but we are most likely going with a yellow tone timber...something that is cool and fresh and also it will make the house brighter. A good idea is to look at houses online that is for sale and has the timber floor species you want, it was hard just looking at a patch of timber at the display showrooms.

Bricks - 2nd level

The brickies came back on the 31st August 2010, a week after the scaffolding was put up. They will stay until the job is complete. It is a small team of the Master and his 2 Assistants.

The scaffolding was completed on Thursday 19th August 2010. The plumbers also turned up in the arvo to do some more work on the 2nd level.
More bricks arrived this morning, hopefully the brickies will start next week.....

update - this arvo all the bricks was moved inside the fence :) lucky they did that or on Monday most of it will not be there...

Woohooo, just talked to the brickies this morning, the ground level bricks will be completed today and the scaffolding will be put up this Thursday and the top story bricks will be layed....

The bricks are up at the front of four igloo. Abit more bricks to go around the garage and the scaffolding team with come and prep the whole house before the brick layer comes back to start the 2nd story.

Monday 2nd August 2010 - Last week our site supervisor said there was a shortage of brick layers and the wait will be at least 4 weeks :( However on Monday he said he found a brickie that can start on our Igloo...very happy :-)
